Devonshire chef celebrates Michlin star
Thursday 24 January 2008
The Devonshire Red's 'chef champion' Mark Dodson is celebrating this week after confirmation that his restaurant, The Masons Arms at Knowstone, mid-Devon, has been awarded a prestigious Michelin star for the third year running.
""It's good news for us and for the food scene in Devon," said Mark, who took over the restaurant as chef proprietor in 2005. "We've worked hard to keep our culinary standards high. Having this level of recognition makes all the hard work worth it."
The Masons Arms is one of only three establishments in Devon to have a Michelin star. Mark Dodson has been 'chef champion' for Devonshire Red chicken since it was launched by Lloyd Maunder Ltd. in May 2007. He regularly serves it on his menus at The Masons Arms and has visited some of the local farms where the chicken are reared.
"We're thrilled for Mark and his team," says Andrew Maunder, commercial director of Lloyd Maunder Ltd. "The menus at The Masons Arms are always innovative and delicious. It's a pleasure to dine there, not least because our chicken is often being served up."
As part of his chef champion role, Mark will be hosting the second in a series of Devonshire Red master classes in preparing and cooking chicken on 5 March. The cost is £35.00 including a two course lunch. To make a booking please call The Masons Arms on 01398 341231.
