Devonshire Red free range organic chicken
Devonshire Red organic chicken are reared to the Soil Association's stringent standards on small farms in the West Country.
The birds are reared in small flocks with freedom to roam in large organic pastures. At night they return to their arks where they are safe from predators.
The chicken are fed a diet which is 97 per cent organic - the other three per cent being fish meal which by its nature can't be certified organic - from our dedicated organic feed mill. They also supplement their organic diet by grazing the grass and foraging for insects.
The mobile arks are moved to fresh ground for every flock as part of each farm's organic crop rotation system. This helps improve soil fertility and minimise the risk of disease or infection.
